As December nears the Castlegar and District Hospital Foundation gears up for Lighting Up the Health Centre, with it’s PLEDGE DAY coming up Friday, December 1st. The Foundation is raising funds for another Activ.A.C. Therapy System and other areas of greatest need at the Castlegar Health Centre and Talarico Place.
This will be the 3rd system we’ll be acquiring for use in the Castlegar community. The feedback on the benefits of the system has been terrific. Negative pressure wound therapy is a fundamental part of treatment for a variety of wounds. We’re told the Activ.A.C. improves healing times greatly!
A quote from someone from our health centre with firsthand experience with the equipment:
“We have many patients that we see that are not candidates for surgery because the risks are too high. We have used the NPWT device and have had significant improvement in the wound in such a short period of time compared to the old method of changing a dressing daily. Some patients will be seen by home care and within one week see such improvement it significantly changes the patients mood from having anxiety to feeling confident the machine will expedite their bodies healing time. One other fantastic benefit with the system is that the machine can be used on all sorts of wounds. This really has been a technology that has impacted so many people’s lives.”
Sophisticated equipment is expensive but worth the investment if it can help those in our community. As such, the goal for this year’s Light Up is $30,000. Your help is needed! Join us in the lobby of the health centre on 10th street in Castlegar on Friday, December 1st between 9am and 2pm. We’ll have refreshments, door prizes and directors on hand to chat with. This year will see a new feature of a silent auction with works by local artisans – jewellery and pottery! Do come out and join us for Light Up 2017!
Remember, your donation boomerangs back to you!
