HUGE CLEARANCE SALE ... EVERYTHING IN THE SHOP WITH THE EXCEPTION OF HARDWARE FROM JANUARY 3 TO JANUARY 10, 2012 at the Castlegar & District Hospital Auxiliary Treasure Shop located at 210 - 11th Avenue. Now is the time to take advantage of cost effective savings!
History: Our organization has been volunteering in the Castlegar Community for 53 years. The Auxiliary was organized in the latter part of 1956 and became part of the British Columbia Association of Health Care Auxiliaries in 1957.
The Auxiliary raises money for the Castlegar and District Community Health Centre and Talarico Place. We buy medical equipment that is necessary for the emergency department, lab and x-ray department. For Talarico Place, we buy wheel chairs, slider sheets and other items that will provide the residents with comfort and care. Over the years we have donated $337,954
Our Gift Shop (250-304-1274) at the Health Centre offers brand new baby and children’s clothing made exclusively for the Auxiliaries. Knitted baby sets, hats, singing stuffed animals, angel pins and many more hand crafted items can be seen. For further information you may contact Martha @ 365-6858. A service cart is taken to the residents of Talarico Place. It offers residents with snacks, magazines etc. The residents look forward to the volunteer and the cart.
Our biggest fund raiser is the Hospital Auxiliary Treasure Shop. It is located at 210 11th Avenue in Castlegar (next to the bowling alley) Mondays 12 noon - 4 p.m. Tuesdays thru Thursdays 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Fridays & Saturdays 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. (closed for Statutory Holidays). Phone: 250-365-7317
Through the donations of the people in the Castlegar and District area we are able to help raise money and give back to the Community. Surplus clothing is donated to People Loving People in Trail. Some items are donated to the vet and others are recycled into cotton rags.
Our phoners and our knitters help from home. We thank all our volunteers for their efforts in making our Auxiliary a caring organization.
If you are interested in joining the Auxiliary, the following information may be helpful: Our meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month in the cafeteria of the Health Centre beginning at 7:00 P.M. For further information, please contact Louise at 250-365-6659 or Nettie at 250-365-6587.
